The Hetzel Union Building, or the HUB as we like to call it, is one of the social centers on campus. It was officially opened in 1955 to celebrate the University's centennial. Inside the HUB are exhibit areas, recreation rooms, lounges, ballroom facilities, an auditorium, rest rooms, pool tables, and a video arcade.

The HUB desk is the main information center for all students of campus. At the HUB desk, students can find information on student activities, student organizations, and the campus itself. It is also a great place to contact any of the more than 500 student organizations on campus.

The HUB Eateries, located on the bottom floor of the HUB, feature a soup and salad bar, several fast food establishments, a bakery, and a hoagie shop named after our football coach, Joe Paterno.

Next to the HUB is an 88,000-square-foot parking deck. The HUB Parking Deck has more than 300 parking spaces for visitors, faculty, and staff.

The HUB Lawn is a popular place for students to spend a warm, sunny afternoon. It is also the location of many concerts and University activities. Students take advantage of its wide open spaces to play games and just to lounge around.
