The Hintz Family Alumni Center
---------------------------------------------

Incorporating the former President's House, the center serves as an
alumni gathering spot and a "home away from home" for alumni. Located in central campus near Old Main, the site selection of the center reflects the Association's goal to be an integral part of the campus community. In addition, the center gives the Penn State Alumni Association space in a single location to house its staff and to hold activities and functions.

The center's architects, Purdy O'Gwynn Barnhart Architects, Inc., designed a structure that blends in with its current surroundings. In the words of the architects—"The building that honors returning alumni should express this duality: respect for tradition and engagement in the future." The architects received a 2001 "Award of Recognition" from AIA for the design of the center.

Alumni Gardens Web Cam
Located in the east wing of the Alumni Center, this Web cam captures live images of the Alumni Gardens, as they are expanded and renovated. The Alumni Gardens will become an oasis in the heart of the University Park campus, where Penn Staters can enjoy the horticulture and history of the gardens and take a moment away from the bustle of daily life. Professional landscape architects have developed a master plan for enriching the Gardens, and the construction of the site will be assisted by undergraduate students in a variety of majors. As funding is secured for each of the five project areas, new gardens will blossom. For more information about how you can support this project, please call Ken Cutler at 814-865-3283 or e-mail kmc2@psu.edu.
