Distinguished Alumni

Number of Awards

There is no limit to the number of Distinguished Alumni Awards granted annually, but awards have averaged fewer than 10 per year to preserve the stature of the designation.

Eligibility

All persons who have been regular, full-time students in a degree-granting program at Penn State, whether or not they have graduated, are eligible. Students in correspondence courses, noncredit courses, or informal extension instruction courses are not eligible, nor are current members of the Board of Trustees, current members of the University staff, or current members of the Executive Board of the Penn State Alumni Association.

Nominations

Alumni, faculty, staff, students, or friends of Penn State may submit nominations. The Board of Trustees encourages all interested to submit a nomination by completing and returning the nomination form by October 12, 2012. Download the nomination form here.

Timeline

Nominations are solicited annually in the early fall. Selection is made at the January Board of Trustees meeting. The award is presented at the Distinguished Alumni Awards ceremony held during the spring alumni reunion weekend.
