Number of Awards
There is no limit to the number of Distinguished Alumni Awards granted annually, but awards have averaged fewer than 10 per year to preserve the stature of the designation.
All living graduates of the University, who have received a bachelor's degree, or an advanced degree, and former students (who have attended full-time as a degree seeking student and satisfactorily passed a minimum of one semester) are eligible for consideration of the award. However, current members of the Board of Trustees, current employees of the University, and current officers and members of the Executive Board of the Alumni Association are not eligible for the award.
Alumni, faculty, staff, students, or friends of Penn State may submit nominations. The Board of Trustees encourages all interested to submit a nomination by completing and returning the nomination form by October 12, 2015. Download the nomination form here.
Penn State Board of Trustees
Nominations are solicited annually beginning in August. Selections are made at the January Board of Trustees meeting. The award is presented at the Distinguished Alumni Awards ceremony held during the Alumni Reunion Weekend in early June.
