Varies, averaging two to four per year.

Criteria

  • Individuals who are not graduates of the University and who make significant contributions to Penn State's welfare, reputation, and prestige.
  • Be sure to describe the impact of the individual's contribution on the mission of the Alumni Association.

Nominations

Nominations are solicited from members of Alumni Council and are accepted from the public and the entire University community.

Selecting Body

The Alumni Association Awards Committee recommends nominees to the full Alumni Council, which approves them through a majority vote.

Timeline

Nominations materials are available online no later than June 1 and are typically due during the month of August. The awards committee makes recommendations to Executive Board of Alumni Council in the fall. The award is traditionally presented during the spring alumni reunion awards ceremony in conjunction with the distinguished Alumni program, although it can be presented any time during the year.
