Career Planning: Networking & Mentoring

Networking in an important skill that can easily be learned and refined throughout your career. Developing and maintaining a strong network of connection will not only serve you well and help you along your career path but, over time, will allow you to assist others along their path. Alumni Career Services offers you a variety of resources to assist you with your networking efforts. Workshops such as Alumni JOBSearch will teach you how to network. Opportunities to network are numerous including the LionLink database and regional Nittany Networking Events.

LionLink
The Penn State Alumni Association and the Division of Student Affairs co-sponsor several programs to assist alumni in connecting to students and to other alumni while developing their own professional skills.

LionLink is a professional networking program that links Penn State students and alumni called Career Explorers with alumni volunteer Career Coaches. Through their knowledge and experience, Career Coaches are able to offer valuable advice that will help students and alumni compete in today's fast-changing job market.

Register as a Career Explorer to be linked with a coach.

Alumni may register as a Career Coach or Career Explorer online at https://psualum.com/career/. Career Coaches will receive a confirmation letter of their registration and will be available for contact by Career Explorers. FASTSTART
FastStart is a mentoring program that connects first-year, underrepresented students with an alumni mentor and a faculty or staff mentor. The program is designed to assist students in making a successful transition to Penn State by connecting them with mentors who have shared personal and professional interests.
