Penn State President's Concert hosted by Dr. Graham Spanier will showcase Penn State students in some of the School of Music's top performing ensembles. From Bach to Stravinsky, from lively jazz offerings to grand opera overtures, these student performances will make you proud to be a Penn Stater. Featuring the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Concert Choir, Centre Dimensions jazz ensemble, and Philharmonic Orchestra. Prior to the concert, join the Penn State Alumni Association for hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar, and socializing with other Penn Staters. The pre-concert reception will include a short presentation with highlights of the evening's program. Register online beginning Jan. 2. Members $35; non-members $45

About the School of Music
The School of Music, a unit within the College of Arts and Architecture, prides itself on its student-centered philosophy and the high quality of instruction provided by its 50 full-time faculty, many part-time faculty, guest artists, and scholars. It offers a comprehensive music program including a wide range of degrees, from bachelor’s degrees in performance, music education, and musical arts to a Ph.D. in music education. Approximately 350 students currently major in music at the Penn State University Park campus. As a part of its educational program and outreach, the School of Music offers more than 150 concerts each semester, on campus and in the community. In addition, performances are presented by student ensembles and faculty throughout the Commonwealth, nation, and abroad.
The School of Music is led by Director Sue Haug, who joined the Penn State faculty in July 2005 after 30 years on the faculty at Iowa State University. Haug holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in piano performance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a doctor of musical arts degree from the University of Iowa.
Prior to the concert, the School of Music and Penn State Admissions will hold informational sessions in Heinz Hall for students interested in attending Penn State. Contact the School of Music or visit the Web site for details.
