Penn State Food Services: Special Meal Deal

Penn State Food Services is offering special meal deals for parents and families of University Park students in the dining commons. The price is $5 per person, and you can pay at the door of all seven all-you-care-to-eat residence hall dining commons. Robeson Gallery - The Three Decades of American Printmaking Exhibit focuses on selected prints of distinguished printmakers from the Brandywine workshop. The complete collection is located in Philadelphia, PA.

Detachment 720 Air Force ROTC—Open House

Penn State Air Force ROTC provides students with the opportunity to become a United State Air Force officer while completing a college degree. The program, combining traditional undergraduate education and military instruction, prepares young men and women to tackle the leadership challenges awaiting the Air Force in the 21st century.

Air Force ROTC offers an excellent scholarship program for highly qualified high school seniors. Many of these scholarships pay full tuition. Parents and families are encouraged to attend this open house and learn more about the opportunities available to students through this program. Tour of Valentine Turfgrass Research Center

The Valentine Turfgrass Research Center, established in 1958 to conduct field research encompassing turfgrass breeding, propagation, culture, and pest management, it is regarded as one of the finest facilities in the world. It was named after Joseph Valentine, Superintendent of Merion Golf and Cricket Club in Ardmore, Pa. Along with several superintendents, Valentine traveled to State College in 1928 and met with the president to formally request that a turfgrass program be established to serve the needs of the golf superintendents in the same way as farmers were being served through agricultural programs. This resulted in the appointment of H. Burton Musser to initiate the turfgrass program. The Penn State Turfgrass Program is now the largest in the world with nine research project leaders and a large resident, extension, and online educational program.
