Reunions:
Class of 1959 Poem, "Appreciation"
----------------------------------------------------
As we, the class of '59,
Prepare to leave Penn State,
We turn with anxious hearts and minds
To futures that we wait.
But as we face what lies ahead
With mingled joys and fears,
We stop a moment to reflect
Upon our college years.
The spirit felt at football games;
'The Glory of Old State,' The Corner Room, the Lion's Den,
Where good friends congregate.
The beauty of an evening
In quiet, falling snow,
The stillness broken only
By the chimes we came to know.
The feeling of accomplishment
When efforts here to learn
Have lent an understanding
Of worlds to which we turn.
Our brightest hopes, our eager plans
At last are realized,
As we ourselves become complete,
Fulfilled, and recognized.
More courage and more confidence
Through Penn State we have gained,
To know that we have come this far
To see our goals attained.
Throughout the years that lie ahead,
Regardless of our fate,
'May our lives but swell they fame'—
The fame of Dear Old State.
