FastStart: Information for Faculty/Staff

Faculty and staff mentors help make the University "manageable" by providing advice, referring the student to available services within the University and the community, and just being a friend. Faculty and staff are asked to contact the assigned student before he or she arrives at Penn State, simply to say hello, give a welcome, answer some questions, and provide a base for further contact as the semester begins.

If appropriate, the faculty/staff person may want to include the student in activities such as social events, lectures, athletic events, and community meetings. Assistance with funding for students to attend these events is available through the program.
