Join an Alumni Group

Group Shot VillaWhy join one of more than 300 Penn State alumni groups?

  • Watch Penn State football games at one of the many "TV Tailgates" organized by chapters across the country. They'll understand why you have to watch a football game even if it means a 9:00 a.m. kick time on the West Coast or as early as 6:00 a.m in Hawaii.
  • Contribute to projects that preserve Penn State history and the Penn State experience. Both the Blue Band and Collegian Alumni Interest Groups have published books in recent years: The Penn State Blue Band and The Collegian Chronicles.
  • Give back to your local community and the broader Penn State family. Groups organize everything from highway clean up days to THON–related fundraising galas to golf tournaments that support scholarships for Penn State students from their area.

Whether you're in Seattle or Miami, Maine or San Diego, Austria or Venezuela, chances are there's a Penn State chapter nearby. If not, consider starting one. For a list of chapters, click here.

Alumni Interest Groups

From African American Alumni Organizations in 4 major cities to RVers who gather for home and away football games, AIGs give alumni a creative way to stay connected with the people they knew during their student years at Penn State. For a list of AIGs, click here.

Affiliate Program Groups

APGs include alumni or friends of Penn State who have a common interest in a particular academic, professional, or extracurricular activity that is related to a specific college or campus program. Some APGs are the Finance APG, Architectural Engineering APG, and Dairymen APG. Find APGs here.

Societies connect alumni to an academic unit such as the College of Agricultural Sciences, the Graduate School, and Penn State Altoona. There is a society in place for every college and most of the Penn State locations. For more on societies, click here

Affiliate Group Endowments

All of the Alumni Association's affiliate groups—chapters, societies, interest groups, and program groups—do amazing work on behalf of alumni and Penn State. And they are equally committed to helping students succeed. Among the best evidence of this commitment is student scholarship support. Check out this Affiliate Group Endowment Report, which details in real dollars the amount of endowed scholarship giving that Alumni Association groups have achieved to date.
