[top] The symposium will be held at The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel, one of the largest university-based conference center hotels of its kind in the country. The Penn Stater, part of Penn State’s Innovation Park, is located in the town of State College, in a picturesque valley of central Pennsylvania, and offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. (Directions and a map will be sent to you with your registration materials.) Delta Connection, US Airways Express, Northwest Airlink, and United Express serve the State College/University Park Airport, located three miles from the conference site. Rental cars and limousine and taxi services are available at the airport. Accommodations A limited number of rooms have been set aside at The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel. In addition to conference facilities, The Penn Stater offers translation, fax, and word processing services, plus a full-service restaurant and a variety of recreational resources, including a lounge, indoor pool, whirlpool, sauna, and fully equipped exercise room. Be sure to identify yourself as a participant in the “Future of the American Public Research University” symposium. Please give the registration clerk the following reservation identification number: NAT0224. Reservations should be made by Monday, January 24, 2005. Fee and Registration The $175 fee ($75 for Penn State graduate students) covers all symposium materials, lunches, refreshment breaks, and Friday dinner. Registrants are responsible for all other meals and lodging. The fee may be paid by check, money order, purchase order (made payable to “Penn State”), IDCC (Penn State employees only to “&CNI”—a completed registration form is required to process your registration), a letter of authorization to bill your employer or organization, American Express, Discover, MasterCard, or Visa. To register, complete the registration form and return with the fee to Penn State by February 11, 2005. Fax registrations must be accompanied by credit card payment information. You may also register with your credit card by calling 800-PSU-TODAY (778-8632) or online. You will be notified promptly of any cancellations or schedule or program changes. Penn State Conferences and Institutes will confirm your enrollment in the program and provide information on travel, accommodations, final registration, and parking. An additional charge of $30 will be added to all late or walk-in registrations. Continuing Education credits are available. Refunds All cancellations must be received in writing by mail or fax. Full refunds will be made for cancellations received fifteen days prior to the first day of the program. Refund requests made after that time will not be honored, and the participant or sponsoring organization will be responsible for the fee. Anyone who is registered but cannot attend may send a substitute. University Policies Access—Penn State encourages individuals with disabilities to participate in its programs and activities. Cancellation—The University may cancel or postpone any course or activity because of insufficient enrollment or other unforeseen circumstances. If a program is canceled or postponed, the University will refund registration fees but cannot be held responsible for any other related costs, charges, or expenses, including cancellation/change charges assessed by airlines or travel agencies. Registration Questions: Reception for Alumni & Friends of Penn State's Higher Education Program On Saturday evenining, immediately following the symposium, all are welcome to attend a reception for alumni, students, and friends of the Penn State Higher Education program. This year marks the 55th anniversary of the Penn State Higher Education program and the 35th year for the Center for the Study of Higher Education.
